Achievements

A woman of action  
On June 28th, 2004 when you entrusted me with your confidence as your Member of Parliament, my team and I accomplished a significant amount of work. Gatineau received the recognition it so strongly deserves. Projects accomplished included major investments from Economic Development Canada in local businesses (over 5 million dollars) and construction of numerous affordable housing projects (Malartic, Hamel, Curé André-Preseault and boulevard de l’Hôpital). In addition, funds were finally allocated and commitments signed for the completion of the long awaited Highway 50 up to Lachute. Born and raised in Gatineau, the significance of this achievement was all that much more appreciated.

A woman of her word  

True to my principles and campaign commitments, I openly supported a quick resolution to the CBC lock-out, price control of gasoline costs, the whistle-blower legislation and the anti-scab law, even if it meant sometimes voting against my government in order to defend for what was best for the riding of Gatineau. My relentless fight for our public servants continues, not only for the protection of their jobs but also a more equitable distribution of employment opportunities within the region. Numerous interventions were held directly with Ministers to assure their awareness of critical issues concerning seniors, families, women and poverty resulting in positive solutions that were incorporated readily into policy and the budget. For example, the new increase for the Guaranteed Income Supplement, originally planned to take effect over a five year period, will now be paid in full in less than two years. I am also very proud of the fact that my position against the anti-ballistic missile project was adopted by my government, an about for the Prime Minister.
