Social housing needs more federal support
Today, Françoise sent a letter to the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Ressources and Skills Development, asking her to be receptive to the requests of the Gatineau municipal council in regards the financing of social housing in the city and the construction of new units, while the federal government prepares its 2012 budget.
On November 22nd, the municipal council adopted resolution CM-2011-970, which requested permanent investments for the creation of new units, an increase to renovation budgets and the upgrading of existing living spaces as well as continued support to them.
Françoise gave her full support to the resolution and in her letter declared that "the right to housing for all is a matter of human dignity and basic security, without it, true economic prosperity cannot truly take hold in the heart of our community, in Gatineau as well as everywhere else in the country."
